The new law also allows vehicles owners to skip carrying the Registration certificate, with the Government officially amending the rule to allow citizens to carry an electronic copy of these two critical document. BENGALURU: After it was flagged by a French security researcher, payments player Paytm has fixed what is being seen as one of the most sensitive access controls it was asking from its users on Android phones. The security researcher, who goes by the name of Elliot Alderson on Twitter, told TOI that Paytm in a new update on its app has stopped seeking ‘root access’ from users after he highlighted the issue with the company. Earlier, if a user allowed the app root access, Paytm would virtually have complete control over the device. Pune: The Department of Telecommunication on Friday gave telecom operators a month’s extension (till January 1) to enable their subscribers to ‘re-verify’ their SIM cards through a one-time password (OTP).In a letter dated November 20, the Cellular Operators’ Association of India (COAI) had written to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and DoT that the earlier deadline of December 1 was not technically feasible, given the changes that need to be implemented.
